LZ0 Thrust Bearing Build Dates

Updated: Nov 24

This will be the location for a compilation of build dates that hav / have not had an engine failure. The purpose of this article is to give us some sort of timestamp as to when these engines / vehicles were actually built. Hopefully set some minds at ease as well to show how many true failures there have been. this is a small sampling from a video posted here: https://youtu.be/WmlzcwNtdjY

I Just received my sierra 1500 ulimate back after 5 weeks. Just under 5,000 km “reduced speed” turbo & oil full of metal. Build date on the chassis June 2025.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks

Sir, thank you for what you are doing. Pulling a cavity out of a gorillas mouth is easier than getting information from a dealership.

Have 2 LZO's:

2026 ZR2 build date 9/25, miles 1,500. No issues so far. This is one I'm concerned with.

2024 LTZ build date 10/23, miles 14k. Bought used at 10k, had service manager at local dealer go through it (prior to this problem) and only found info center was replaced.

Will update if I have thrust bearing issues.

I have a 2025 GMC 1500 LZ0 AT4. Bought in 07/25 and on 12/01/25 it died while driving on way to hunt. Been at dealership since so I do not know the build date and just heard from them today that my engine locked up due to thrust bearing failure. 4941 miles

The dealer was chasing the P066D code for a failed oil pump. They replaced the oil pump after 4 weeks of waiting for the part, but it did not fix the problem. Then the TSB 25-NA-307 came out, pointing to the thrust bearing issue. By this time, the clock had run out on GM per the NC Lemon Law based on how long my vehicle had been out of service. I filed a case through the BBB National Programs website, and GM has had to offer repurchase or…
