LZ0 Thrust Bearing Build Dates

Updated: Nov 24, 2025

This will be the location for a compilation of build dates that hav / have not had an engine failure. The purpose of this article is to give us some sort of timestamp as to when these engines / vehicles were actually built. Hopefully set some minds at ease as well to show how many true failures there have been. this is a small sampling from a video posted here: https://youtu.be/WmlzcwNtdjY

If my truck is currently being built is it likely that I will not be effected by this issue?

I have a 2025 GMC Sierra AT4 with and LZ0 engine with 14k miles. Currently at the dealership for thrust bearing failure. I purchased the truck in April of 2025 and don't have the bill date, since it in the has been in the shop since July 13 waiting on an engine with no ETA for when one will be available.

Have a 7/25 build date, checked play twice and there is no movement and how have 8500 miles. Is it possible that certain plants had the bad builds or all? Is there a way to check what plant these fails are coming from?

My Yukon with a 3.0 LZ0, 17,000 miles, is currently at a service center awaiting a new engine due to a thrust bearing failure. The emissions sticker under the hood has a build date of May 2025. Can the build date be verified with the VIN?
