This will be the location for a compilation of build dates that hav / have not had an engine failure. The purpose of this article is to give us some sort of timestamp as to when these engines / vehicles were actually built. Hopefully set some minds at ease as well to show how many true failures there have been. this is a small sampling from a video posted here: https://youtu.be/WmlzcwNtdjY

Hey Greg, just bought a new 3 max Silverado LTZ. Build date was March 4/26 , out of Mexico factory.I’m told the motor build date is probably within a week of this . Hope this helps.
2026 model year GMC Sierra, purchased Oct. 31, 2025. Truck build date June 2025. 3,250 miles. Got the "Reduced Acceleration" message about 1.5 miles from home. Made it home and shut down engine and restarted, got a "transmission and or engine warning" on dash. Called my local dealership and was told not to start truck, and that they would have it towed to dealership. Later was informed I would be needing a new engine.
2025 Sierra 1500 Elevation with 15.5k miles, build date of 11/24. No issues with the truck or the engine.
2025 Silverado, June 2025 build date, only 4365 miles before dealer confirmed thrust bearing failure, no check engine light, only indication was a very pronounced rattle/grinding sound when reving the engine.
I wish the spreadsheet could be updated. I bought a 2026 Sierera with the 3.0 Duramax, with a build date of 10/25. Not sure of the engine build date yet.
On edit, the engine build date is 7/31/25
