Rumors of an extended-range fuel tank for the 2027 Silverado 3.0L Duramax have circulated for months. An actual 2027 Silverado ZR2 retail order now confirms GM option NLA — Fuel Tank, extended range — alongside the LZ0 3.0L Duramax. Here's what we know and, just as importantly, what remains unconfirmed.

GM changed the oil pan and pickup tube on some 2026 LZ0 Duramax trucks. We installed the revised pickup with the PPE deep oil pan and used a camera to verify fitment and internal clearance.

GM bulletin #PIE0932 confirms the automaker is investigating an injector-related check-engine light and possible misfire condition affecting some 2026 vehicles equipped with the 3.0L LZ0 Duramax diesel. A root cause and standardized repair have not yet been announced.
